Since money's involved, it's safe to assume Pokemon Bank users also pay to keep the service working. The thing is, if it's succesor (Pokemon Home) does not allow you to transfer unavailable pokemon from Sword & Shield into the games, how many Bank users will make the jump? Will they be *just enough* to keep the servers going, considering how few fans do care about this feature? What if little Timmy wants to transfer their Arcanine from Let's Go to Shield, only to find out the servers were closed because not enough people were paying for it? Food for thought.

In case you were holding out: hope, dashed. Speaking to Inside Gamer, Pokemon boss Junichi Masuda re-confirmed that yes, there are no plans to add the National Pokedex into Sword and Shield. Although there were some "maybes" thrown out since the news came back in June at E3, Game Freak is now sticking to their guns and eliminating the prospect altogether. Masuda states: "We now have no plans to make the Pokemon that are missing in the Galar Pokedex in- game available. That is an approach that we want to continue with Pokemon games in the future. Of course, up to now it has not been possible to encounter every Pokemon in every game, so people had to transfer it from old games via Pokemon Bank to the new game, for example."

But there is no reason Sword and Shield shouldn't have all the Pokemon.

They literally made hd models and animation for every Pokemon. The only reason some Pokemon aren't getting in is because the giant mechanic requires 4 additional copies of each Pokemon's model, each with a different amount of clouds over their head.

The only reason why we can't use all of the Pokemon is because Gamefreak and Nintendo don't hire people who know what they are doing.
