In case you were holding out: hope, dashed. Speaking to Inside Gamer, Pokemon boss Junichi Masuda re-confirmed that yes, there are no plans to add the National Pokedex into Sword and Shield. Although there were some "maybes" thrown out since the news came back in June at E3, Game Freak is now sticking to their guns and eliminating the prospect altogether. Masuda states: "We now have no plans to make the Pokemon that are missing in the Galar Pokedex in- game available. That is an approach that we want to continue with Pokemon games in the future. Of course, up to now it has not been possible to encounter every Pokemon in every game, so people had to transfer it from old games via Pokemon Bank to the new game, for example."

This comes from the end of a bigger rant (in source,) but the upshot is: GF made separate models for each Dynamax mon, when they could’ve just upsized the originals, put a red overlay on, and made the clouds a background effect. Dynamaximum Effort!

About the thing about the models of Dynamax being seperate models and wanting proof: here's a video of Dyna Steelix popping into the game, look closely when it pops up in the screen: http://imgtc.ws/i/WoktNNM.webm You know what pops in with the Pokemon model at the exact same time? That swirly death vortex and the three clouds. That's ridonkulous for anyone who knows anything about modelling. They made a unique seperate Model for the Pokemon itself Background effects instead of just reusing the same Pokemon models and making a seperate background effect. Literally doubling their animation and modelling workload
