If I had to say whether Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan were scarier, I will always say Imperial Japan. The Japanese did not fight to live, they fought for their Emperor's will. They refused to yield as according to the Bushido codes of honor, that was unacceptable weakness and only the prospect of a force beyond all resistance, the Atomic Bombings, convinced them to surrender. If The U.S. had gone through with a traditional invasion of the mainland, we would have most likely seen even more horrifying suicide attacks, possibly involving children as the vehicles of such destruction. All for the sake of their militarist government's pride and survival, they cast aside their humanity and did unspeakable atrocities for the sake of an Emperor who had little control over the nation to begin with. I personally find it horrifying that that happened less than 100 years ago and that similar occurrences are happening on a regular basis in the Middle East and Africa with Radical Islamic groups. Religion and Government policy being fused together NEVER ends well and always results in such radically inhuman fanaticism.
