On a serious note, this is a good criticism of the FNAF series overall.

I know this sounds rich, but a decade ago FNAF was praised heavily for being one of the scariest and most original indie horror titles to ever come out.

Many FNAF games are gutting the aesthetic by trying to explain it too hard. Even as early as FNAF 2 they were going the route of literal robots that are trying to kill you because they are malfunctioning. Which is also the route that the more recent spin-offs and movies are taking.

The original justification for why the animatronics are able to move and want to kill you is because each of them is haunted by the ghost of a murdered child whose corpse was stuffed in their chassis.

A few months back, the fan game Graveyard Shift at Freddy's was released and before it went down it was wildly regarded as the scariest FNAF fangame of all time. That game played into FNAF's original aesthetic with animatronics that could move and had organic features that only came out when they were animated. They answered the question of how they have human eyes and blood seeping out of them with nobody noticing during the day with the fact that their haunted features are only manifested when they're trying to kill the player.

Now that FNAF is a cultural phenomenon on par with Spongebob I think people have long since stopped appreciating what the series had to offer for the horror scene.
