I'm glad that the manga writer didn't turn Shaggy into just like Sasuke, who actually become a more interesting and compelling character after he quits the Mystery Gang because he eventually grew tired of not being able to use any percent of his power to fight crime. With Sasuke, I can barely see he had any friendship with Naruto or Sakura after he left and just become flat-out unlikeable. Shaggy, on the other hand, you can see that despite their difference, he still treats Scooby as his friend despite the fact Scooby, though reluctantly, has tried to kill Shaggy to prevent his bloodlust from rampaging before it's too late.

Dunno if they actually pulled that but it would be hilarious if Shaggy had such epiphany and fearlessly charged towards one of the few legit supernatural entities out there.
