A lack of quality control is certainly a factor, but it's a case of sequelitis. The first is usually best because it was good enough to make a sequel. On SCPs: with the writing format, and world rules established, it's more difficult to write something new and good.

The new rule of "no SCP cross-experiments" doesn't help interest either since each one exists in a vacuum. I remember spending hours in the 1-999 range reading through entries because of those.

Maybe try some SCP-readings video channels? They usually stick to the popular ones.

Wait what is this about "No SCP cross experiments" wasn't the whole point of SCP that everything you put on there can be used by anyone else?
