Punk in general has always been far more left leaning since its inception. In fact a decent number of punk bands were pissed off when they learned actual neo-nazis were starting to invade the scene, which is what prompted Dead Kennedys to make the song "Nazi Punks Fuck Off."

It is true that yes minority groups are treated far better nowadays than they were when the punk movement first started, but the fact injustice towards minorities still happens regardless is what fuels things like the punk movement to live on anyway.
