My best guess is that maybe since this was greenlit before he took over, he using this as an example of the stupid things WB has been approving.

Like, allowing some egotistical, unfunny celebrity with waning star power to hijack a beloved franchise to use as a vanity project (which 95% of the time end of being meh to hilariously awful) and to spout of identity politic bullshit…that would definitely convince me that WB needs to clean house and fire some people.
