Everest to impress a girl He gets *a lot* of plot armor but it's a heartfelt movie THE DARJEELING LIMITED (2007) Three brothers get high on a long train ride in India while crying about their childhood trauma The color scheme is spectacular even if the acting falls short, makes me want to visit India MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY (1935) A fictionalized version of the real-life mutiny Very ahead of its time in filmmaking technique Heartfelt acting even for the 1930s THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (2013) Ben Stiller globetrots for...strange and somewhat unknown motivations 10 Great cinematography and score but pacing isn't good and there's some misplaced attempts at humor Still an awesome film FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS (1998) A gonzo journalist takes every drug imaginable and gets lost in Las Vegas for three days Most Impressionistic movie I've ever seen Hunter S. Thompson is so based THE ROCKETEER (1991) Weird mix between sci-fi, history, adventure, and fantasy, but it works Got a lot of people into steampunk aesthetics in the 90s I can't explain how but it feels like a pirate film even though that's not the subject at all RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1982) THE quintessential adventure film, and it's famous for good reason Excellent filmmaking for its time, great acting, beautiful cinematography and score, compelling plot Globe-trotting visual feast with odd religious tie-in Three prison escapees in the Great Depression go on a quest to find buried treasure O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? (2000) But they do a bunch of other stuff instead, and it looks very good Much of it is an allegory of Homer's Odyssey EVEREST (2015) Based on 'Into Thin Air,' it's about the 1996 Mt. Everest disaster. Tells the story on an ultra-grand scale. Best mountaineering film out there IMO, I don't care what happened to them after they summited, watching them do it gets me off AMERICAN MADE (2017) Semi-true story of a cocaine smuggler in the 1980s Great humor and pacing and a lot of heart Comes off like a Scorsese movie, seriously underrated NATIONAL TREASURE (2004) Poorly-reviewed because of its bad acting and unrealistic plot, but it's my second-favorite guilty pleasure film It's so campy and grand in scale that it's great, I must've seen it 80 times The sequels and TV show are trash though
