This comic is REALLY underselling it. What it doesn't show is the person losing their job or scholarships and having their life derailed because they said something edgy or even something that WAS socially acceptable at the time.

Half the time they didn't even actually do anything wrong. Remember: if you didn't do anything wrong DO NOT APPOLOGIZE! They will take it as an admission of guilt and hold it over you like a noose. They will never forgive you.
