On September 2nd, 2020, the BIPOC polyamory advocate and Instagram user @MarjaniLane^[1] posted a graphic to explain what "solo poly" means, using a stock image drawing of a disabled woman wearing a hijab and a prosthetic running leg beside the text explaining solo polyamory. The post (seen below) received roughly 2,300 likes in four years.

The post gained viral attention on November 16th, 2024, after X^[2] user @QuetzalPhoenix shared @MarjaniLane's "solo poly" Instagram post to the platform (seen below), which gained over 28 million views and 3,500 likes in three days.

On November 17th, X^[3] user @glitter_gutss replied to the viral tweet showing the hijabi amputee illustration, writing, "When I’m in a woke competition and my opponent is a black polyamorous hijabi amputee." The tweet (seen below) received roughly 12 million views and 317,000 likes in two days.

On November 18th, 2024, Redditor^[4] u/ColossalCartman63 uploaded a version of the hijabi amputee meme to the subreddit /r/TheRightCantMeme, adding the overlay text "POV: The woke final boss." The post (seen below) amassed roughly 130 upvotes and five comments in a day.
