CURATOR TALKS OVER FRIENDS The "mastermind" behind the exhibits, but almost always designs them to reflect In a group of people but always talks over them to what THEY want, without regard for anyone else explain the art ED ATE RESIST POLITICAL MESSENGER Will tell everyone in the vicinity about their political message, usually far-left in nature Finds the most provocative pieces and makes a big deal of publicly gushing about them Then when anyone complains to them about inaccessibility, they freak out and insist they're right Approaches employees and tells them what they can do better Preach far-left politics but think of everyone except them as idiot scum A person, usually a college-aged liberal arts major, who comes in a group and goes on a rant about what the piece means A visitor who's pretty obviously tripping on shrooms or acid, or else really really stoned Will go very slow and exude a tremendous sense of pretentiousness Someone who complains loudly about a piece and says it shouldn't be up IGRY DOCENT TOUR SCHOOL TOUR CORPORATE TOUR A tour led by a docent, who's usually a self-righteous old lady who will inject her personal opinion into the tour An educator-led tour of school kids Tour organized by a business for the purpose of bonding and cultural enrichment Usually right after the workday OVER-INTERPRETIVE ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION Stays several feet away from the canvas, apologizes every time he breathes on the art Surrounded by people who are way too close, and yet continues being insanely cautious Presetera Almost always misses far left or comes up with a new and wild scenario that's way too abstract just keeps f------ talking HIGH Zero self- awareness VANDAL Will listen to music and stare at a piece for far too long I almost always mutter "have a good trip," which freaks them out 50% of the time they say something wrong, but confidently KAREN The board is REALLY scared of these types ever since the Van Gogh soup incident Finds SOMETHING to be upset about As someone on manager and complains to the the inside, I can tell you that the curators throw those In December we had to post extra guards around the Jesus painting because of so many threats against it complaints immediately in the trash They usually don't care about the engaging lecture f The same exact tour comes through tomorrow A person in a wheelchair or on crutches Yes, the staff gossips in the breakroom about whether you have chemistry PHYSICALLY-DISABLED The building was constructed in the 1800s so it's really inaccessible for them CRITIC Walking around with a notepad, making small grunts and scrutinizing the art The shittily-designed exhibits don't help but the curators put their head in the sand whenever we bring this up Will volunteer the fact that he's a critic to anyone who will listen, gets annoyed and starts furiously writing if you don't seem to care saggy sweats and reek of weed and loudly talk about the art with phrases like "dayyyyum dis s--- boujee" UNSOLICITED ADVICE FIRST DATE BASIC COUPLE BOARD OF DIRECTORS If you try and Very rich old Republicans Two people who are standing get a word in edgewise she who use the museum as Usually college-aged couple holding hands and flirting throughout the galleries beside each other, cracking nervous jokes and asking icebreaker questions Asserts that THEIR interpretation of the art is correct Everyone on it looks like they want to go home DIVORCED DAD Single guy in his 40s-60s who comes to the museum alone, sits on a bench, and stares solemnly at the art He comes 15 KNOWS BETTER LONGTIME MEMBER Will ask you a question and when you answer, tells you Person who's been coming here weekly since 1983, usually a stodgy old lady you're wrong frequently and you can tell he's just killing time so he doesn't have to go home Ask strangers to take pictures of them and sometimes make out publicly ANGSTY TEENAGER A teenager, usually a boy, who came with his girlfriend or family Doesn't want to be here, complains about or makes fun of the art Teenage girls who put way too much effort into their outfits and come with a friend who's holding a DSLR Wear Trump stuff and audibly tut at art they don't like ANDA Doesn't look at the art, but poses as if she is MAGA CE!) Always demands that her friend takes more, then leaves immediately Get mad about everything that's here and will complain to you that it's liberal bs I have no idea why they come to the museum Older person who comes around and tells you his life story and s--- Considers the art as if she's never seen it before Often filled with complaints about how the place has changed NOSTALGIC You didn't ask You nod along politely until he tires himself out WAS DRAGGED HERE Older man who was dragged here by his wife While she gushes over the art he rolls his eyes and sits on the phone I always try to crack a joke and cheer these types up a giant tax break I feel bad for him HOOD KIDS INSTA GIRLS POSSIBLE THIEF Teenagers Usually dressed in A guy who doesn't seem to care about the art, but asks about the price of everything from an urban area of town Come in occasionally for a photo op then dip Hire the curators to be divisive s-------- so the spotlight isn't put on the fact they make 737382644x more than us WHITE TRASH Tattooed, rude, loud hillbillies who come to the art museum for some reason Almost inevitably have s-------, uncontrollable kids and touch everything they see Takes a special interest in employee schedules You aren't slick
