She claimed she left the vehicle unlocked and started walking across the street when she saw Smith getting into her vehicle. The woman said she wanted to file charges because her child was still in the backseat. Smith claimed she was traveling from Louisville to Evansville when her car broke down and hitchhiked the rest of the way. When asked why she would steal the vehicle, Smith allegedly said Kanye West speaks to her telegraphically and told her to steal it. Smith was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail. While there, officers received more information that Smith had wrecked her vehicle into the tree line off of Highway 64, which is why she said she abandoned the vehicle.
