Directed by Jayson Thiessen The basic idea behind this film, which is good fun but not nearly on the same level as Miyazaki or Disney, was a marketing ploy by the brands parent company, Hasbro, to advertise their toys via film. But unlike the atrocious My Little Pony: The Movie, this film has one major difference from the former: effort. The writer of this film, Meghan McCarthy, obviously took her time and sincerely wanted this to be an enjoyable experience, which it honestly was. One would expect it to be a trashy high school flick such as High School Musical, but once you look past surface details, you find an original, thought out storyline. I think I can see why so many adult men enjoy this, crisp and fluid animation, great writing, and phenomenal humor.
