You can develop multiple characters and multiple stories at once that way and so explore Twilight's princess life For example, you could have an episode where Twilight has to meet delegates from around Equestria for a social meeting, b gets tied up and sends Rarity, who loves the connections shes getting, and guiltily doesnt tell Twilight about the next meeting and goes herself (using her relationship with princess Twilight for her own means), until Twilight finds out and gets angry/upset. That's a Rarity episode that tests her ambition and relationship with Twilight but develops and explores Twilight's princess life and feelings at the same time. It could even world build if the delegates are decent characters from Saddle Arabia, Crystal Empire, Griffon Kingdom etc. And hell, Pinkie could be the one who tries to repair their relationship and gets Twilight to come round. But that kind of sharing of the spotlight has really declined, every episode has to be a "Twilight episode" or a "Pinkie episode" or a "Dash episode". Rather than having 7 episodes that give us information about Twilight being a princess while at the same time developing the other characters, apparently all that can happen these days is one or two episodes entirely taken up by Twilight being a princess only (or none, so far), and st standing around or being cut altogether while the other 5 have their episodes
