I've known my best friend Rob forever, since elementary school, and his girlfriend, Alexa, for the last 3 years. Her and I hit it off immediately. We started texting all the time, and I had just been under the impression that we were really good friends. Throughout the whole three years, he always got kind of jealous of how often I texted and interacted with her, and I assured him we were only friends. I honestly thought that. Then we all get drunk one night, and whenever Rob left to do something, Alexa and I were giving each other weird looks. I don't know how to describe them besides as kind of warm, understanding, purposeful looks. Then he'd come back and things were back to normal. We go to bed later that night, and she messages me about how they've been really close to breaking up lately, and that he's jealous of how much I talk to her. I ask her why, and she springs on me that she's had a massive crush on me since she met me, and she thinks my friend is catching on. I realize in that moment that I've had some serious feelings for her that I developed over the years, and I let her know. We basically agree that it's a shame that we met under these circumstances, where it would be impossible to make something happen between us because of how much we respect my friend.
