100% agree

Rant time. Tldr: Half of enjoyment isn't the thing. It's the events/people around it.

When I was a kid I remember going to Sears to play on the Gameboy kiosk. There i would make small talk with the other kids waiting in line while mom shopped in the mall.
When I was a tween I remember going to Walmart and idie game shops, reading the latest gamepro, and asking other people recommendations for the N64.
When I was in highschool my various circle of friends would trade games for the PS2. We discuss our likes and dislikes in person at the lunch table
During college i was often invited to Halo or COD lan matches. Or local Tekken matches. We'd sh!t talk to each other face to face.
Then social media, smartphones and digital store fronts changed the physical landscape.
It was convenient. It was easy. It was promised as a bright future.
It wasn't

I've found over the years that friendships aren't just a magical bond you randomly form with people, but come about due to mutual need or forced proximity. There's something to be said for independence and this being more convenient, but if you literally had all of your needs met without leaving your room how often would you find yourself actually talking with strangers?
