Lyric spams are spams that mock songs that use words or phrases repeatedly. They are most popular on imageboards like 4chan but can also be found on various forums across the internet. In their purest form they consist of a picture of the song’s singer and the text in question repeated over and over again. For example if this sort of behaviour was popular in 1969 then it would be more then likely for you to see a picture of Robert plant and the text “WANNA WHOLE LOTTA LOVE WANNA WHOLE LOTTA LOVE” repeated in the same fashion as the other spams.

Foo Fighters – Best Of You

American rock band Foo Fighters’ hit single “Best Of You”, which repeats the words “THE BEST” four times in a row several times during the song is believed to be the first lyric spam. The song hit the airwaveson March 30th 2005. But it took three years before “THE BEST” was first noticed on 4chan’s random board or /b/.
