JP Sears is a YouTuber and comedian best known for his satirical videos in which he parodies self-help, fitness and spirituality gurus.

History

On April 7th, 2013, Sears uploaded the first video to his AwakenWithJP channel titled "How to Thrive as an Introvert" (shown below, left). On October 21st, AwakenWithJP released a video mocking the "law of attraction" New Age philosophy maxim (shown below, right).

On October 5th, 2014, Sears released a video titled "How to be Ultra Spiritual," in which he parodies trendy New Age spirituality gurus and cliches (shown below). Within two years, the video gained over 1.34 million views and 1,100 comments.

On March 16th, 2015, AwakenWithJP uploaded a video mocking gluten free diets as a trendy fad, which gathered upwards of 6.7 million views and 4,500 comments in two years (shown below, left). On May 16th, 2016, he released an episode titled "If Meat Eaters Acted Like Vegans," mocking various stereotypes associated with veganism (shown below, right).

In March 2013, the @AwakenWithJP Twitter feed was launched, which accumulated upwards of 7,200 followers over the next four years. On June 29th, 2014, the AwakenWithJP Instagram feed was created, garnering more than 60,900 followers over the next three years. On November 19th, the official AwakenWithJP Facebook^[2] page was launched, which gained over 1.11 million likes over the next two years.
