This pretty much states the very problem with the article. They're trying to paint a character trans just to use them as a rallying point. Which is an insult to the character and game writing in general. If all you ever cared about a character is their sexual orientation or their gender, then the character will end up being flat and the audience won't get invested in them.

We don't like Samus because she's a girl, we like her because she murders planets. I'm still convinced she could solve the plot of Aliens within 15 mins, 20 mins tops.

While we're at it, this has always begged a question with me. While at times we doubt their ability and their ethics……..and their sanity, Wu and several of her colleagues are game developers. While some dismiss the argument, why doesn't Wu get together with a few of them and make a game with a trans heroine? I doubt the game would be any good, but when you want something done, you do it yourself.
