You know it's not like they retconned that aspect of him from existence; he just quit. It's still official that he USED to be a plumber. He's gone from 'plumber' to 'plumber not currently employed'. You can still call him a plumber if you want to.

I mean, be honest, if YOU hooked up with a princess would you still be taking hours at your blue collar day job?
