Can't tell if this means she worked in a child labor camp and doesn't realize it, or she is talking about training in Octavio's army, surrounded by all the machines some octarians use

I agree, she probably just grew up around a lot of machinery. I get the same way being on or around military bases because a good chunk of my childhood was spent on them so I like the familiarity; not because I was a soldier or worked on a base.
