As far as I can tell, the typical reaction most fans have is “Gilda lost her best friend! Grade-A Woobie material right there!” whereas Blueblood has no CANON excuse for his behavior

For me, this supposed "distinction and/or dynamic" is flimsy at best. They're both Shadow Archtypes to a mane character (Gilda to Dash, Blueblood to Rarity), and they're both massive dickheads (in a way that's good for the story) as far as I'm concerned
