Oh, Wright, you never fail to disappoint, as usual! Take a look at this object:

As you can see from the image, this is what the Engineer calls his Dispenser. It passively drops items that the mercenaries can collect over time. Because the Engineer has both within the same vicinity, it's easy for the Soldier to have access to both. It's obvious, is it not? The Soldier filled the Dispenser with bread so that it could be teleported every ten seconds when the Dispenser dropped the bread at the given time, without the Soldier's presence!

In case that was too much for your brain to handle, it is still 70 hours worth of bread!
