Last March, Nintendo announced that Zelda Wii U wouldn't release in 2015. These two events kicked off a wave of speculation as to whether or not Zelda would release on Nintendo's current home console. A day may come when Zelda Wii U gameplay footage is shown off, but it is not this day.

Because they delayed it to 2016 in order to work on it much more. Skyward Sword was in a state in 2010 and 2011 where the devs were satisfied with how it looked and functioned that they didn't mind showing off more.

However since E3 2014 a lot could have happened during development where the devs were no longer happy with how the game looked or functioned and decided they ultimately have to do some kind of revamp that's so major that it might currently be in a states that the devs do not wish to show off for fear it'll look "incomplete" to the public.
