There is a specific kind of spaces that we don't usually think of as "places" despite finding ourselves there almost every day. Hallways connecting one part of building to another, subway stations, airports, malls and car tunnels… The list goes on. What sets these places, called "liminal" by architects, apart is that they are almost never seen completely empty, void of people. There always strangers rushing to get somewhere, making their daily commute from point A to point B and vice versa.
Seen empty and therefore having lost their only purpose, these liminal spaces always look strange and almost otherworldly. Some find their dream-like appearances inspiring, others eerie and haunting. But the desire to experience their strangeness again, even if only through a computer screen, is always there.
