14 Annoying Internet Users Who Think They're Smart, But Clearly Aren't

Not all of us are particularly smart. In fact, many of us aren't, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. But being cringe is, and few things are more cringeworthy than people who believe they're so profoundly intelligent that they have to share it with everyone else online, especially because we didn't ask. Thanks to Reddit, we can preserve these moments forever.

The subreddit /r/iamverysmart exists specifically to document the existence of these people who so annoyingly claim they're the smartest people ever, even though it's pretty obvious from the constant grammatical errors that they aren't. Thanks to the Redditors who have worked tirelessly to dredge up some incredibly irritating "smart people" out there, we've found some absolute gems to make you feel a little better about your own social skills. Here are some of our new favorites gathered this month.

Unbearable

And I have a STEM PhD. And I earn six figures. And I use the phrase "stochastic terrorism". Do I sound smart, or am I smart? Vote 1h You sound unbearable to be perfectly honest

Too Smart for Music

Fill in the blank: Aux plug privileges are automatically revoked if someone plays in my car. country, rap, rock, classical orchestra, international, jazz, electronic, indie, industrial, experimental, any kind of music, really. i only allow nature sounds and intellectual podcasts. 7h J'aime Répondre

Imagine thinking music was too mindless for you to enjoy, so you have to listen to birds chirping on end every time you get in your car.

150 IQ, Huh?

5h People act like this is so hard, I'm 15 and yea I do have a really high IQ (150s) and I can easily do integrated calculus in my head, and easily calculate the amount of valence electrons in a nucleus. And I'm also highly trained in quantum physics, by the way I'm totally self educated. Reply +-12 5h There are no electrons in any atomic nucleus. Boom! 4h 19⁹ 13

This Tinder Match

How was your day? It was good. Just watching some Netflix Nice, what are you watching? Ugh... The Office!! My favorite show. My dad is the epitome of Michael Scott That show is so...stupid. You don't learn anything from television like that Clearly you are not engaged with proper television that I watch. The Office has nothin but unintelligent humor. I don't have an IQ of 136 for nothing. Try watching something mentally stimulating like The National Geographic or something on the History channel. I was gifted, and I choose not to lose precious brain cells that God gave to me over a silly television show. Just trying to help. You're a very smart pretty girl, but television like that only rots your brain :) What? You sound like an a hole

On an Instagram Story

I dumb down my vocabulary because I'm used to being the smartest person in the room. I read a lot of books. Most of them older, written by philosophically minded individuals, and not exactly light reads. It causes me to have a drastically expanded lexicon, and the number of times I've had to define a word to somebody has caused me to instinctively use simpler vocabulary when I'm in a crowd just to avoid that issue.

Red Flag

I am not just another Tinder-guy. I have an intricate history. Experiences and feelings. I'm complex. I consume libraries. I do things like crawl in a Lyft (I'm 6ft) and say "The library, and step on it." I feel and believe. I have opinions. Some of them are interesting. I believe the influence of Kierkegaard on Camus is underestimated. I believe Hobbes is just Rousseau in a dark mirror. I believe people want everything and nothing.

I bet this guy gets lots of matches on Tinder.

Near-Genius Right Here

Now That's actually something it took me a long time to realize: very smart people can't fathom what its like to be well below average. I spent my childhood wondering why everyone around me was so slow. Turns out I have a near-genius IQ. Didn't save me from a myriad of stupid choices in my youth, but I guess I made those choices really fast. But I was in my mid20s before i started to grasp that my counterparts on the other side of the bell curve weren't just slow...they literally didn't process information the same way I do. It's a little frightening to know how much the biology of the brain affects how we perceive the world.

Yeah, I'm Sure Your Nine-Year-Old Does This

My 9-y-old finds quantum mechanics, for whatever reason, very disturbing. He particularly dislikes superposition, the double-slit experiment, and Schrödinger's cat. Today, he asked me to explain quantum entanglement, "But only a little. If I say, "stop" then you have to stop". 6:27 PM - Oct 16, 2022 - Twitter Web App 8 14h Strangely mine is totally fine with relativity, we watched special and general relativity videos and he's totally cool with it, so i expected he would also enjoy quantum mechanics, but unfortunately... 27 Show replies : 301
