It's okay to make mistakes. It's a part of being alive. But it is very important to be able to own up to those mistakes. One of the most insufferable and cringeworthy situations someone can get themselves into is the attempt at backpedaling out of something dumb they did. Like posting a "candid" photo and claiming it was an accident, that they totally dropped their phone, or saying something gross to someone and immediately blaming it on their friend when it is met with backlash. Whatever it may be, it is best to just own up to what was really done, rather than try to make up some totally not believable story to make yourself seem better.
Everyone has likely seen situations like these occur, or maybe even been a part of one. For anyone who hasn't, not to worry, Reddit's /r/oopsdidntmeanto is full of screenshots of people desperately trying to climb out of the hole they dug for themselves. Here are 15 people who definitely didn't mean to do the things they did.
