These images and videos shouldn't be this scary. In a way, they're pretty normal things. They weren't meant to be as nightmarish as they are. We can't explain why some of these bother us so much, it's just a primal fear we all share, probably something inherited from our ancestors who thought slicing faces off of dolls was terrifying.
Maybe they were the brighter generation, because these things were better off left uncatalogued and forgotten about, and yet people still insisted on sharing them with others on /r/oddlyterrifying. And now, we're making you guys look at the worst of these, too, handpicked by someone who's been staring at these long enough to feel deeply unsettled, because otherwise you'll never know how oddly terrifying an oil rig at night is.
