Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock Memes That Don't Even Include The Slap
During the 94th Academy Awards ceremony on March 27th, 2022, comedian Chris Rock was presenting the award for best documentary feature, which eventually went to Summer of Soul. While on stage, Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith's wife and star of entanglement controversy, which prompted Will to come down to the center stage and proceed to slap Chris Rock before returning to his seat while hurling profanities at him. Chris Rock, fortunately, did not respond in the same manner as Smith, and the award show proceeded as scheduled. The image of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock was quickly turned into a new meme format online, but even more than becoming a meme format, it became a cultural reference that memes could be made of that reference it, without even showing the slap itself in the process.
