Foxdye: Monsters of Meme
Foxdye is an electronic artist from Portland, Oregon who makes awesomely spastic breakcore/happy hardcore that often includes sampled audio from her favorite viral videos. It's pretty difficult to pin down her music into one genre, and in Soundcloud she gives her tracks labels like "Memecore", "Speed Meme", "Bassline-Bro-Step Fart-House", or even "Speedtrance Booty Dub Fart-Break Step".
Her first CD since last year's M4g1c47 G71mm3r1ng R41nb0w is called Monsters of Meme, and it is filled to the brim with Internet:
After much anticipation, Foxdye is back with another full length, the brilliantly-titled, Monsters of Meme. 14 tracks of in-your-face, meta-genre, internet-meme-filled, rave-tastic, intricately-chopped-to-pieces breakcore. And, since it's Foxdye, expect moments of gorgeous ambiance and IDM-ish atmospherics in your hardcore. This is yet further proof why she has a fan base that spans continents and why a Foxdye party is always the most fun you can possibly have.
The title track is amazing, and so far I've identified samples from Bananaphone, Pillowy Mounds of Mashed Potatoes, Winnebago Man, and Kanye Interrupts amongst all the fart noises:
Monsters of Meme
Dude, Wheres My Brostep
This is one of my favorite Foxdye tracks released last year, and it's nothing like any dubstep you've heard before.
You can listen to more Foxdye at her Soundcloud page. Memes I could identify in her songs have been tagged below.
