In 2008, Weezer released the music video for "Pork and Beans," one of the first music videos to harness the power of meme culture. On Wednesday, The 1975 followed in their footsteps with their meme overload video for "The Birthday Party."

The video is a lot to take in. It shows a three-dimensional digital avatar for singer Matthew Healy wandering through a cyber landscape populated with upwards of 20 memes, including Meme Man, Pepe, Wojak, Virgin vs. Chad, Goth GF, Momo, Ermahgerd and more.

Fascinatingly, the video doesn't shy away from potentially problematic memes. In addition to prominently using Pepe the Frog, the video features several memes which have been tied to the far-right, such as Moon Man, as well as memes tied to some unsavory sections of the internet, like Pedobear.

It's a surreal stroll down memeory lane that seems to have little to do with the subject of the 1975's song. It's also not the first time the band has given a nod to their love of online culture. In one of the band's most popular hits, "Love It If We Made It," the group quotes an oft-repeated Trump tweet, saying "Thank you Kanye, very cool!"
