100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla, also known as 100 Guys vs. 1 Gorilla, refers to a viral debate about who would win in a fight to the death, 100 men or one gorilla. The concept went viral on TikTok and spread to Twitter / X and Reddit in late April 2025. Some posted simulations that overwhelmingly showed the gorilla defeating the 100 men. The discourse led to many memes, mostly at the expense of humans or, alternatively, were overly pro-human.

Origin

Currently, the first known post to propose the 100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla debate was shared by TikToker^[1] @yuri5kpt2 on February 22nd, 2022, who wrote in his video's caption, "So I need to hear everyone else's thoughts. Who wins in a fight? 100 grown men or 1 gorilla?" His video gained over 115,700 likes in three years (shown below).

Spread

Videos about the question largely resurfaced in early 2025. For instance, on January 28th, TikToker^[2] @tredouglass posted a video on the topic, arguing in favor of the gorilla. Over three months, his video received roughly 10,100 likes (shown below).

On April 20th, TikToker^[3] @rationalsniper posted a similar video on the matter, also arguing in favor of the gorilla. "100 humans will get dogwalked by a single gorilla," he said. Over one week, the TikTok received roughly 68,400 likes (shown below).

Several other TikTokers chimed in on the debate in the following days, as some argued in favor of the men.

For instance, on April 26th, 2025, TikToker^[4] @lov3charlee posted a video in which she said, "Do y'all not know David Goggins?" referring to the fitness influencer. Her video gained over 33,200 likes in a day (shown below).

During the same timeframe, memes about the imagined fight were shared on TikTok as the viral question continued to spread on the platform.

For instance, on April 24th, TikToker^[5] @mavsrunthenba posted a video of actor Robert Downey Jr. looking surprised, captioned, "When the 100 men vs 1 gorilla fight start and your HB [homeboy] gets his faced ripped off and gets ripped in half while trying to lead the siege," gaining over 96,000 likes in three days (shown below).

On April 25th, 2025, X^[6] user @DreamChasnMike tweeted, "I think 100 niggas could beat 1 gorilla everybody just gotta be dedicated to the shit😂😂," gaining over 70.1 million views and 120,000 likes in two days (shown below). The post was also shared to the subreddit /r/BlackPeopleTwitter^[8] the following day, receiving over 5,300 upvotes in two days.

Multiple users quote-tweeted the post, sharing memes and reactions.

For instance, on April 26th, X^[7] user @rogueprincce responded with photos of a gorilla, captioned, "I need you niggas to be serious," gaining over 208,000 likes in a day (shown below).

The viral debate also spread on Reddit in late April 2025, including posts to the subreddits /r/CharacterRant^[9] and /r/CasualConversation.^[10]

On April 28th, Redditor World_Revolves posted a meme to the /r/whenthe^[11] subreddit mocking pro-gorilla debaters, receiving over 4,400 upvotes and 140 comments in nine hours (seen below).
