The Skibidi Toilet campaign has been going strong for months now, with kids around the world obsessed with the bizarre animated video series showing a race of evil toilet-men repeatedly battling TV-headed creatures. But what you may not know is that the animations for Skibidi Toilet are derived from a particular video game mod that has been around for nearly two decades now.

Fans of the video game Half-Life and its offshoot sandbox game Garry's Mod have spent the last year seething over their favorite characters being repurposed into Evil Cocomelon.

The face of the mysterious G-Man, a cryptic figure in many Half-Life games, also seen in GMod, is the same as that used for the Skibidi Toilets. Here's how people joke about little kids mistaking their favorite villain for a noticeably lamer one.

Who Is G-Man, And How Is Skibidi Toilet Connected To Half-Life?

G-Man is a recurring supporting character in the Half-Life video game series known for his peculiar behavior and mannerisms. A pale tall man dressed in a suit and carrying a briefcase, G-Man appears in the critical moments of the game and acts as a mysterious overseer who acts behind the curtains, and nudges the protagonist of Half-Life toward certain goals.

G-Man is also one of the primary links between Skibidi Toilet and Half-Life. In 2006, the creators of Half-Life published a game called "Garry's Mod," which was basically a sandbox physics game that allowed users to freely manipulate objects and ragdoll-style characters. Garry's Mod featured many familiar video game characters, including G-Man.

Skibidi Toilet videos were actually made using models from Garry's Mod, which led to G-Man unfortunately becoming the leader of the Skibidi Toilet Race.

What Is The 'Hello There Timmy' Meme?

In January of 2024, X / Twitter user @hlbs4life posted a four-panel meme showing a conversation between a young boy and G-Man. G-Man is shown to be greeting Timmy by name, but Timmy seems to be under the impression that G-Man is simply "the guy from Skibidi Toilet!"

The news leads G-Man to stare Timmy down before banishing him to the realm of Xen to fight a horde of alien grunts, a reference to the alternate Half-Life ending.

The meme took off, spawning viral animated iterations on YouTube, as seen in posts by ThatOneGuy'sAnimations and SilentManJoe, both gathering over 800,000 views in a month.
