Ayo Edebiri Is Irish refers to a recurring internet joke about American actress Ayo Edebiri being from Ireland. On April 22nd, 2023, Letterboxd's official TikTok[1] page uploaded a video of American actress Ayo Edebiri pretending she was Jenny the Donkey from the movie The Banshees of Inisherin. In the video (shown below), Edebiri was asked how she prepared for the role, to which she said she lived in Ireland for about four months to get "in character for the role." The post amassed over 558,000 plays and 54,000 likes in a year.

Ayo Edebiri's Irish nationality gag resurfaced in early January 2024, after she won the Golden Globe award for "Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series" for her role in The Bear. For example, on January 7th, 2024, X[2] user @michaelcollado posted a picture of Edebiri and Irish actor Cillian Murphy holding their awards paired with the caption "Ireland winning big tonight!!!" The post (shown below, top) received over 49,000 likes and 3,900 retweets in five days.

On January 10th, the X[3] page @filmindublin congratulated the actress nomination for the 2024 BAFTA "Rising Star Award" pretending she is from Ireland (shown below, bottom), which amassed more than 77,000 likes and 7,600 retweets in a day.
