Baby Patrick refers to a frame from an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants in which Patrick Star is drawn as an expressionless baby. The frame has been used in numerous remixes on YouTube.

Origin

In the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Goo Goo Gas," which aired July 19th, 2009, Plankton creates a gas that turns the citizens of Bikini Bottom into babies (repost shown below).^[1]

Spread

In the Autumn of 2019, YouTubers began to make memes of Patrick's appearance in the scene. On September 21st, 2019, YouTuber Rocco The Vyonder published a still of Baby Patrick while a brief clip of Souljah Boi's "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" plays, gaining over 304,000 views (shown below, left). On October 4th YouTuber Maxi Taxi posted an extended edit of the scene in which Plankton introduces the gas, zooming in on the drawing of Patrick Star when he transforms while "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" plays. The video is the most popular iteration of the meme, gaining over 9.7 million views in one year.

Other videos using the meme include a compilation posted by Izjust Memes that gained over 63,000 views (shown below, left) and a video posted by MemerManStan on November 14th, 2020 that gained over 5,500 views in two weeks (shown below, right).
