Everyone on 4chan Should Be on a Terror List refers to a tweet by English actress and writer Emma Kennedy made in the wake of the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings. The tweet prompted an online reaction, with multiple users responding with examples of silly and wholesome posts on 4chan and 8chan.
Origin
On March 15th, 2019, an anonymous 8chan user, later revealed to be 28-year-old Australian man Brenton Tarrant, made an announcement of a planned attack in New Zealand. On the same day he carried out two attacks at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 50 people and injuring 50 others. In the wake of the attacks, English writer and actress Emma Kennedy tweeted that "everyone on 4chan and 8chan should be on a terror list".[1] The tweet gained at least over 150 retweets and 900 likes before been deleted.
Spread
On March 16th, a thread discussing the tweet was launched on 4chan's /pol/ board.[2]
On March 18th, Redditor[3] laluprasadji posted a combined image of the tweet and a 4chan thread in /r/comedyheaven subreddit, where it gained over 34,800 upvotes.
In the following days, posts in which the Emma Kennedy's tweet was followed by screenshots of 4chan and 8chan silly and wholesome threads appeared on Reddit,[4] Twitter[5] and other online platforms.
