Gambit "Woo, I'm About a Make a Name for Myself Here", also known as You Know How Long I Been Waitin’ for This? or Wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere, refers to a scene from Deadpool & Wolverine (aka Deadpool 3) in which actor Channing Tatum's character Gambit speaks in a Cajun or Creole accent before fighting multiple opponents. The "Make a Name For Myself" scene gained memes on TikTok and elsewhere in mid-2024 following the Marvel movie's release. Other scenes from the movie with Gambit's accent also gained memes online. The meme evolved to the gibberish word "Wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere" in memes, playing on Tatum's garbled delivery of the line. The trend replicated the My Name Jeff meme, which also featured Tatum doing an accent in a movie scene.

Origin

On July 26th, 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine released in American theaters.^[1] Actor Channing Tatum played Gambit in the film, who spoke in a Cajun or Creole accent. On July 28th, multiple TikTok videos surfaced that centered on Gambit's accent. For instance, one TikTok^[2] was posted by @addictedclips1 and had text reading, "Deadpool couldn't understand gambit at all," gaining over 4.2 million plays and 511,100 likes in five days (shown below, left).

Also on July 28th, TikToker^[3] @cinema_this2 posted the scene in which Gambit says, "You know how long I been waitin' for this? Woo, I'm about a make a name for myself here," gaining over 571,100 plays and 25,100 likes in five days (shown below, right).

The "I'm about a make a name for myself" scene was posted multiple times on TikTok in the following days. For instance, on July 30th, 2024, TikToker^[4] @warriors.wisdom_ posted the scene with text reading, "I think blud wanted to make a name for himself," gaining over 6.3 million plays and 976,400 likes in three days (shown below, left).

On August 1st, TikToker^[5] @drengoku posted a screen recording of their tweet^[6] in which they captioned the video, "Whoooimboutamakeanameformyselfyea," receiving over 145,000 plays and 8,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).

During the same timeframe, a CapCut green-screen template was made with the scene. For instance, on August 1st, 2024, TikToker^[7] @myricalwhipp used the template to joke about going to Applebee's, receiving over 203,700 plays and 20,000 likes in a day (shown below).

On August 2nd, 2024, X^[8] user @BeansGoodTakes quoted the clip of Gambit saying he's going to make a name for himself, writing, "wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere," receiving over 36,000 likes in four days (shown below).

The tweet inspired viral usage of "wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere" going into August 2024. For instance, later on August 2nd, 2024, X^[9] user @portermuaddib04 tweeted the long gibberish word, gaining over 67,000 likes in four days.

On August 5th, X^[10] user @Boos2fer tweeted about the My Name Jeff meme comparing it to the Wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere meme, receiving over 172,000 likes in a day (shown below).
