Yes King was the first meme taken from a LoveAndLightTv video, followed by many others like I'm a Lion Pizza Chicken, You Don't Deserve My Nut, Who Made That Mess? You Digging In Me, I Need a Break and I'm New Bro, which all surfaced in 2023 and 2024. LoveAndLightTv and his memes fall under the category of Thugposting, which is the ironic subversion of gay Black male content that spawned out of Hood Irony circles in the late 2010s. The memetic usage of LoveAndLightTv's expressive pillow talk is based on prior memes made about OF creator Dreamybull, known for the Ambatukam meme.

Background

Michael Willis Heard, aka LoveAndLightTv, grew up in Glendale, California but moved to Atlanta, Georgia as an adult.^[3] Heard was previously a pastor in Columbus, Ohio as early as 2012.^[2] In 2020, Heard was pursuing a PhD.^[3]

Online History

Michael Willis Heard began posting content to Facebook^[1] on April 22nd, 2012. Much of his early content on the platform was related to his faith and homosexuality. Heard posted many selfies from the timeframe (examples from Facebook^[5][6] shown below).

His Twitter / X account was created in 2018. The earliest still accessible tweet^[4] on his account was shared on November 29th, 2019, gaining over 300 likes in five years. One of his first viral posts was a video shared to his X^[7] account on December 30th, 2019, gaining over 7,100 likes in five years.

Heard launched a YouTube^[8] channel called LoveAndLightTV on June 16th, 2020. He started a video podcast there called Kingz in Konversation with his friends Enrique and Mohka. One YouTube^[3] video called "21 Questions – Get To Know The Kingz" was shared on July 13th, in which the three revealed fun facts about themselves (shown below).

Heard also launched the Instagram ^[9] page @loveandlighttv_ on October 20th, 2020.

Thugposting

On March 30th, 2023, LoveAndLightTv posted an explicit video to X^[10] that received 3,500 likes in a year. The video's audio, in which LoveAndLightTv and his sexual partner ThickMuthaFukah are saying, "Is that dick good?" "Yes, king," and "How good is that dick?" was used in since-deleted TikTok^[11][12] videos and photo slideshows starting in early April 2023.

In turn, LoveAndLightTv became the subject of Thugposting memes as the Yes King video spread online. Many of the original TikTok videos have been deleted or their sounds have been removed. Discussions about the Yes King video also spread on /r/hoodironycentral^[13] during the same timeframe.

Memes and fan edits of LoveAndLightTv surfaced online going into 2023. For instance, on August 16th, TikToker^[15] @yessking_ shared a LoveAndLightTv fancam, gaining over 822,200 plays and 21,500 likes in a year (shown below).

Memes about LoveAndLightTv surfaced en masse going into 2024. For instance, on March 20th, 2024, TikToker^[19] @shitp0st1ng posted a video about trolling a Call of Duty lobby with LoveAndLightTv audios, amassing over 1.8 million plays and 145,600 likes in eight months (shown below).

On November 3rd, TikToker^[20] @sc3pblack posted a video in which he talked about how every time he opened the app he heard a new LoveAndLightTv audio while scrolling his For You page. Over eight days, the video received roughly 248,500 plays and 54,400 likes (shown below).
