About
Giorgio Chiellini's Handball is a photoshop meme based on a photograph of the Italian professional football player for Juventus F.C. committing a handball foul during the 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match against A.S. Monaco in late April 2015.
Origin
On April 21st, 2015, the second-leg of the 2015 UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match between Italian football club Juventus and French-Monacan football club A.S. Monaco went underway at Stade Louis II in Monaco, with Juventus holding a 1-0 lead from the first-leg of the quarterfinal held in the previous week. Less than a minute into the game, Juventus defender was booked for a yellow card for committing an intentional handball after losing possession of the ball (shown below).
