About
Mourinho Disgust, sometimes called Guy Taking Off Headphones, is an image of professional association football coach Jose Mourinho ripping off a headset in apparent revulsion. The picture is typically used as a reaction image that is paired with captions expressing disgust, often characterizing Mourinho as a person tasked with cyber monitoring and horrified at what he hears or negatively reacting to bad music.
Origin
The original picture was taken by Getty Images[1] photographer Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno on April 2nd, 2013, at a press conference featuring Mourinho and Real Madrid player Raphael Varane (seen below).
It's unclear when exactly the post first started seeing use as a meme, but it appears to be around the end of 2019. On December 6th, 2019, Twitter[2] user NyashaChipoka used it in response to a tweet about R. Kelly's sexual misconduct allegations (shown below).

Over the following year, the template spread across social media. On April 16th, 2020, Redditor JoshC-137 posted an example to the /r/meme[3] subreddit, gaining over 7,000 points in six months (shown below, left). On March 10th, Redditor link229 then posted another example to /r/memes,[4] gaining over 21,000 points in six months (shown below, right).
Similar jokes continued through 2020 and into 2021. On February 11th, 2021, Redditor EverySir posted an edit to /r/HolUp[5] that gained over 24,000 points in roughly two months (shown below, left). On March 17th, Twitter[6] user @Krakoan4Life then tweeted the image as a reaction to the series Snowfall, gaining over 120 retweets and 840 likes in roughly one month (shown below, right).
