Girls That I Like vs Girls That Like Me is a series of captioned images comparing two female subjects, one a female that the author idealizes and the other, the author jokes idealizes him. In September 2017, the meme became popular after a woman used as the subject of the picture responded to a version of the meme on Twitter.

Origin

The earliest known occurance of the meme was posted on July 24th, 2014 by Twitter[1] user @Hunter1895. The tweet featured a side-by-side picture of a Hooters model juxtaposed next to a picture of a large person in a Hooters outfit (shown below).

On September 19th, 2017, Twitter[2] user @imleyton tweeted a picture of two swimsuit models, one very thin and the other plus-sized. The post (shown below) received more than 1,400 retweets and 4,400 likes in 24 hours.

The post became the source of a controversy, after the woman in the "girls who like me" spot responded to the tweet. That day, Twitter[3] user @ThickLeeyonce responded to the tweet by tweeting "I don't like you." The post (shown below) received more than 250,000 retweets and 800,000 likes in 24 hours. Her response resulted in a Twitter[4] Moments page to archive the response to her tweet.

the girl on the right isn't any less attractive than the one on the left. sure she's got some curves, but it's not like she's morbidly obese. and at least she appears to be secure with her self-image, unlike the guy that posted that meme. what a douche-nozzle lol
