On February 18th, Instagram user @beigecardigan^[1] posted the image with the expression "Free me from this prison that is my life" written in the document (shown below). Over the next two years, the post gathered upwards of 49,700 likes.

On March 1st, the @cabbagecatmemes^[3] Instagram feed posted an edit in which the hamster types "communism will prevail" (shown below). Within two years, the post gained over 20,500 likes. That day, a variation quoting a passage from The Communist Manifesto was submitted to 4chan's /pol/ board (shown below, right).^[5]

On March 13th, the "Post Ironic Memechartcore II: But Then WAS Graph" Facebook^[2] page posted an anti-meme variation of the image (shown below, left). On March 7th, Redditor TeamCobra submitted a "/r/dankmemes mods are fags" edit of the image to /r/dankmemes,^[6] where it received more than 1,800 points (98% upvoted) and 30 comments prior to being archived (shown below, right).
