About

Nicola Sturgeon and Richard Tice's Showdown refers to a memorable moment during the BBC Leaders Debate in Cardiff for the 2019 United Kingdom general election when First Minister of Scotland and Scottish National Party leader, Nicola Sturgeon, challenged Brexit Party chairman and MEP, Richard Tice during the final question of the debate.

Origin

During the BBC Leaders Debate for the 2019 United Kingdom general election, a final question from an audience member asked what would each of the leaders would say if they had 40 seconds with President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Richard Tice responded to the question by saying "Let's get a quick trade deal", Nicola Sturgeon quickly interrupted and said "…and here's our NHS", referring to claims that the Conservative Party and Brexit Party would privitise of the United Kingdom's National Health Service if they came into power after the election.

Afterwards, Richard Tice accused Nicola Sturgeon for lying and scaremongering and smiled afterwards, Nicola Sturgeon then proceeded to say "…you've got form on that" which afterwards Richard Tice turned around towards her with a stern face whilst she was laughing, which triggered laughter in the audience.
