Kill 7 Billion People Monkey refers to a reaction image of a gibbon staring directly at the camera captioned with the command to "kill seven billion people". Posted in 2022 and initially used as an non-sequitur punchline for anime memes, the image has been used as a reaction and an exploitable.

Origin

The gibbon photograph used in a photograph of Spanky, a gibbon residing at the International Primate Protection League facility in Summerville, South Caroline. On October 18th, 2020, the League's Facebook[1] page shared a photograph of Spanky staring directly at the camera (shown below).

On December 31st, 2024, Redditor Finnish_meemuilija posted the photograph together with the caption "kill 7 billion people" to the /r/ape[2] subreddit (shown below), where the post garnered over 1,400 upvotes prior to removal.

In September 2023, the captioned meme achieved popularity as a part of the Anime Memes Replaced With X meme format, similar to Kid Named Finger and I Skin Infant Babies memes. In September 2023, multiple memes based on the format were shared in an unidentified subreddit. None of the original posts could be discovered; however, on September 30th, 2023, Redditor[3] Green_Annual2026 posted a collection of Wendigoon edits based on these memes. On October 22nd, 2023, Instagram[4] user getchoosart made the earliest surviving repost of one of the memes created during this period (shown below).

On July 11th, 2024, iFunny[5] user Kronk posted a montage of Anime Memes Replaced With Kill 7 Billion People (authorship unconfirmed). The edit (shown below) received 210 smiles in seven months.

The montage saw viral spread through reposts on X,[6] Instagram,[7] Reddit,[8] and other platforms in the following weeks.

Starting in July 2024, the image macro has been use as a caption meme format. For example, on August 27th, 2024, X[9] user @Urart3 posted a meme about Speculative Evolution based on the format that received over 120 reposts and 1,000 likes in six months (shown below).

Kill Six Billion Demons (abbreviated KSBD) is an ongoing webcomic by artist Abbadon about a young woman, Allison, who gets involved in a millenary conflict for the control of the bizarre world of Throne, ruled by the Seven. The comic has been praised for its detailed artwork, extensive lore and unique worldbuilding.
