Overview
Toronto Debby also known as Debby Parkway or Debby Gang was the online monicker of social media personality Alexis Matos. Debby became known online as a Toronto eccentric after amateur Toronto news and entertainment outlets like 6ixbuzz began posting videos of her acting out in public, doing things like arguing with people, getting into fights, rapping and sharing strong opinions in her stereotypically "hood" manner of speaking. She frequently came under fire for using the n-word despite being white. Debby was allegedly homeless much of her young adult life. She allegedly died of a fentanyl overdose on November 2nd, 2021. Her death sparked tributes across the web, including from 6ixbuzz and other Toronto outlets that historically shared her content to make fun of and criticize her. In turn, these outlets were accused of encouraging her drug use and of ultimately playing a part in her death.
History
Toronto Debby first became known online as a teenager around 2018 when Toronto-based entertainment news outlets started sharing videos posted to her social media accounts, which have been deleted numerous times. Her main account was Instagram[1] @debbygang.tv, which has since been made private. An early Toronto Debby video can be seen uploaded to Instagram[2] page 6ixstar on September 9th, 2018 where she criticizes "fake rappers" for having no money and says she'll "box them out" (shown below).
Death
On November 2nd, 2021, Debby allegedly died of a fentanyl overdose. She was 18 years old and homeless at the time. The last known recorded video of Debby was taken on October 26th by man-on-the-street interviewer Saif Shawaf and uploaded to TikTok on November 1st, a day before her death. In the interview, she talks about being tired of everyone, being bullied and sounds distraught, also appearing to be intoxicated. She says people online tell her to kill herself every day and that she was kicked onto the streets. At the end of the video Shawaf gives her money and asks her not to use it on drugs. An extended version of the interview was uploaded to Shawaf's Instagram page on November 2nd following the news of her death.
