FISA memo renewed three times

Here's why: When a FISA order is obtained to conduct surveillance on an American, the FBI must get a reauthorization from the FISA court every 90 days. In seeking renewal they cannot simply recycle the original application they must demonstrate that the surveillance has been fruitful. In other words, they need to show the judge that the surveillance has developed foreign intelligence that reaffirms the original probable cause determination and shows that their suspicions had merit and the target is acting on behalf of a foreign power. If the FBI cannot show new evidence like this, the surveillance is likely to be terminated. In other words, the fact that the FISA order was renewed means that the original "poison" of the Steele memorandum did not taint the subsequent renewals-it means that there actually is a “there there"-at least in the eyes of the renewing judges. 05

Why the fear?

Does anybody else remember how tne FBI threw the election FOR Trump just a week before election day by purposefully telling the public that one candidate was under investigation but not that the other was? And now we are supposed to believe this? That a Republican written memo, sourced and released by only Republicans, which claims bias against Republicans, and therefore that an investigation against a Republican should be ended? This is the most obvious example yet of an attempted cover up - why is the GOP so scared of what Muller is finding?

Rod Rosenstein's Statement

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Devin Nunes as a representative. l'm beyond horrified to read this memo. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 3 months ago. But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these months. This memo has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of the FBI. As those closest to me know, in my life I have also had strong relationships at both the Department of Justice and in the Fourth Circuit, and I now choose to live as a gay man. Rod Rosenstein
