High Heels! is a mobile game developed by Rollic games and published by Zynga in which you play as a character in high heels walking through obstacle courses consisting of hurdles at various heights. The goal is to reach the end of each level by collecting high heel shoes scattered across the course that make your character's heels grow, allowing you to pass over each hurdle.

History

On December 28th, 2020, Zynga published a new game titled, "High Heels!" on Android and iOS. The game was heavily advertised on TikTok, increasing interest among the platform's users. On January 5th, 2021, XXXTAN Mobile gameplay uploaded the first gameplay video of High Heels! to YouTube,[5] garnering over 4,200 views in a month (shown below, left). On January 27th, 2021, PikaGuy uploaded a gameplay video to YouTube,[9] garnering over 150,000 views in 2 weeks (shown below, right).

TikTok Success

On January 18th, @isaiahbaca_ posted a video of High Heels! gameplay to TikTok[4] in which, over text-to-speech, he say, "I found a game for baddies. You basically walk like a bad bitch in high heels," and continues to react to the gameplay (shown below). The video gained over 3.9 million views in 3 weeks and inspired other TikTokers to upload videos playing the game. At some point, Zynga began using @isaiahbaca_'s video as an ad for the game.

On the same day, @26fxch._ uploaded a video giving commentary while playing the game to TikTok,[6] garnering over 2.4 million views in 3 weeks (shown below, left). On January 19th, @storytimevideoslol uploaded a video[7] telling a story over High Heels! footage, garnering over 1.1 million views in 3 weeks (shown below, right).

On February 2nd, @takakinnie tweeted,[8] "I GOT THIS FUCIKING AD I WAS TRYING NOT TO PUKE LAUGHBING" along with a video of @isaiahbaca_'s video, garnering over 29,400 likes and 7,600 retweets in 7 days (shown below).

As the game continued to go viral on social media it climbed the charts of the App Store. On January 21st, Zynga tweeted[3] announcing that High Heels! was the #1 free game on the App Store. By February 9th, High Heels! was the number 3 most downloaded free game on the Google Play Store[1] and the #1 racing game on the Apple App Store.[2]

On February 8th, Polygon[9] published an article on the game's success on TikTok.
