Never let Mario become Luigi
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog Paper Mario contains an unused "berserk" state for Mario where he becomes stronger at the cost of not being controlled by the player while turning red. According to a 2000 interview, this originally turned Mario green instead, as "it could be very dangerous if he became Luigi". Ryota Kawade, chief director: "There were rejected badges too. In one of them, Mario would get into a "berserk" state where you couldn't give him commands, but his attack power would shoot way up. For some reason though, that badge made him tum green when he was berserk. The programmer who created it was a Luigi fan, and I guess that idea was that if Mario became Luigi it could be very dangerous. (laughs)" Unused sprite for the berserk state in the finished game, activated via an unused badge called "Anger's Power" Source: shmuplations.com/papermario/ Mock-up of the original green version of the state, whereby "Mario becomes very dangerous by becoming Luigi"](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/817/868/aab.png)

Mario rants about his hyperfixations while imprisoning you in the void.
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, whenever Mario enters a building, all NPCs outside of it turn invisible as the outdoor area is darkened. If glitches are used to clip outside and talk to them, it will appear as though the speech bubble is coming from Mario instead. There's this one game that just absolutely rules. Imagine if they did this...
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog In Super Paper Mario, Back Cursyas are frustrating enemies that send Mario out of an area when touched. Regular Tech Heavy 00% 00 00 118) Revena Back 00 Could be any one! In Super Paper Mario, Cursyas are rare enemies that inflict negative status effects when touched. The Back Cursya is the most frustrating, sending Mario out of the area and back to Flipside when touched. All of them have Dark variants, which are indistinguishable, except for the Back Cursya. However, the game's internal enemy list contains an entry for "FL", which stands for "Dark Back Cursya". No files remain for it, but the entry implies it was at one point intended to also appear in the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials. This is Floor 91 of the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials, which contains a large number of the various Dark varieties of Cursyas. Imagine if one of them was the Dark Back Cursya, and it was impossible to tell which without scanning them all with Tippi/Tiptron. Imagine if one of them randomly teleported Mario out of the Pit, completely resetting his progress, if he so much as touched it. What happens to inactive partners
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog In Paper Mario, no in-game explanation exists of what happens to inactive partners; they merely shrink and fly into Mario. An unused pouch icon suggests that the shrinking is not just metaphorical, but that Mario may be literally carrying them around in miniature form in a pouch. Whenever Mario changes his active party members in Paper Mario, a visual effect occurs whereby the party member jumps into the air while shrinking, and flies into Mario. The other party member emerges from inside Mario in a shrunken state and grows. This effect has no in-game explanation, existing only as a visual shorthand for changing the active partner. No in-game text mentions what happens to inactive partners. Not Items? Items Pre-release materials for the game show that a pouch icon was at one point used in the battle menu. It could not have been the item icon. MENU 1/in もちもの なかま 3xE 5 ब्र ってい A menu screenshot reveals that the pouch icon was labeled "", meaning "comrades" or "allies". The icon remains, unused, in the finished game's data. This suggests that the partners were originally supposed to be kept inside an actual (likely magical) pouch, which would have given an in-universe explanation to partner changing. Due to the pouch being blue with a yellow button, same as Mario's overalls, it is also possible that it was supposed to be a depiction of an (unseen) pocket on his overalls instead. ource: tcrf.net/Paper Mario/Unused Graphics; Supper Mario Broth, screenshots taken in a N64 emulator, game: Paper Mario (NA, N64)](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/725/750/c69.png)

I'm seeing sextuple here! 36 Goombarios!
![DENT Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog Paper Mario contains unused graphics and description for an item called the Transformation Cane, which would have let Mario transform into a partner.
