The "u mean woop me" meme was created in April of 2015, originating in the Steven Universe roleplay community on Facebook. It lasted two or three days before members of the community attempted to shut it down under controversy.

Steven Universe is a cartoon that airs weekly on Cartoon Network, first aired on November 4th, 2013. It has since then gained a somewhat large fan base, and support from viewers everywhere. Though the cartoon was initially aimed at pre-teenage to young teenage audience, fans of the show range within all ages.

The "u mean woop me" meme's meaning comes from the community's encounter with a roleplayer, who was roleplaying under the name Steven Quartz Üniverse, the main character of the popular cartoon. The community initially had some troubles with the Facebook user due to lying about his age, initially stating he was 14, before saying he was 12, finally coming to the conclusion he is 10 years old. Whether or not this fact is true remains under question. The young roleplayer then attempted asking several other older members of the roleplay community for nude photographs and pictures of themselves, asking for them to "explain" or "inform" him of sexual acts, or of behaviors with sexual connotation. Some members of the community noted having troubles with him, though not many people knew of his actual age. This lead to one user approaching him, which escalated to the kid eventually responding "u mean woop me"

The usage of the meme is often either in censorship of questionable language or replacement of verbs in a sentence, though the statement "woop" is frequently used on its own.

The response from the community was rather large, in a matter of hours a very large portion of the community was referencing the meme. The Facebook page "U Mean Woop Me" was also launched, featuring screencaps of the many comical events surrounding Steven Quartz Üniverse

There is a lot of controversy behind the meme, many people disapprove of it, claiming it's cruel to mock and tease a child in the way they believe the community is. This opposes the side that claims they're harmlessly joking around, laughing about some of the hilarious things kids tend to say, which was supported when the Steven roleplayer made a joke along the lines of "u mean woop me" in a status, though that too is currently questionable after catching wind of many users claiming he's being bullied and harassed. Many claim anything he did he brought onto himself, asking for nudes and sexual language to be sent to him, and by using facebook at an age under 13, the minimum age for using Facebook.
